Features
The most precise and efficient heat pump available, featuring Lennox' most advanced cold climate technology.*
The Dave Lennox Signature® Collection SL22KLV is a heat pump like no other. Utilizing Lennox' most advanced cold climate heat pump technology, it optimizes efficiency while delivering rich, warm comfort in temperatures as low as -20°F. From its innovative cabinet design that increases durability, to its digital communication features that maximize accurate control, no other heat pump delivers this level of efficiency and precision.*
Leading heat pump technology for the coldest conditions
Our leading heat pump is engineered with Lennox' most advanced cold climate technology, using a variable-speed compressor with Electronic Refrigerant Injection (ERI) to adjust the energy usage based on the outside temperature. In colder temperatures, the ERI increases heating output efficiently, providing the warm, rich comfort of a gas furnace with the efficiency of a heat pump.
The perfect amount of quiet
To reduce operating sound levels, the SL22KLV uses a sound-dampening system with a precision-balanced, direct-drive fan to ensure smooth, quiet operation. This lets it operate at a volume as quiet as 58 dB, or the sound of a microwave.
Digitally intelligent for accuracy and efficiency
This truly digital product is designed to pair with the Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat as part of a fully communicating home comfort system. Sensors in the equipment allow the thermostat to diagnose issues and automatically make system adjustments to more accurately and efficiently maintain temperature, humidity and air quality.
Cabinets designed for reliability and serviceability
Our most innovative cabinet design features panels that fit securely to the unit to prevent excess noise, along with an easily removable louver panel that allows for quick access by your technician. This proprietary design makes Lennox units more attractive and durable, quieter and easier to install and service, so nothing stands between you and having perfect air in your home.
A refrigerant that’s better for the environment.
This product is compliant with 2025 EPA regulations for lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants. The Lennox choice of 2025 Compliant Refrigerant has a lower GWP than its predecessor and is formulated to provide excellent, reliable performance of your system for years to come.

SL22KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump
Old Units Replaced With Top Tier Lennox Units
March 01, 2026We recently installed two of Lennox’s newest, highest-efficiency HVAC units, and I was genuinely excited to upgrade to what are advertised as some of the most advanced systems on the market. These variable-speed units are a major improvement over our 20-year-old systems. Instead of blasting on at full power, they start quietly at low speed and gradually ramp up as needed, which makes a noticeable difference in comfort and noise. We paired them with the proper new air handlers and S40 thermostats to get the full benefit of the system. The outdoor units are quite tall and have a clean, modern appearance. Since this review is early after installation, I can’t yet quantify the energy savings, but I expect a meaningful reduction in heating and cooling costs over time. However, there are a couple of quality concerns that Lennox should address. On both units, the front faceplate does not stay fully secured on one corner and protrudes about 1–2 inches. It appears to rely on plastic snap-in clips without any adhesive backing, and those clips don’t seem to hold properly. Additionally, the plastic shroud around the fan can vibrate during operation, producing a sound similar to a helicopter or engine noise — at times I thought a vehicle was pulling into the driveway. While installers may be able to correct these issues, they appear to be manufacturing or design concerns that Lennox should resolve directly. Addressing them would better reflect the premium quality expected from top-tier equipment. Overall, despite these issues, the systems represent a significant upgrade in performance, comfort, and technology compared to our previous units. I’m optimistic that once these minor problems are resolved — and once we see a full season of operation — the investment will prove well worth it.
Need access to the Heat Pump detailed usage data
February 26, 2026So far the new Heat Pump system is working as expected (I think). The gas furnace has only kicked on a few times (I think). In general I love detail and not having access to the Heat Pump detailed usage data is annoying. The monthly report is not enough and not timely. I find myself pulling up the app many times a day just to see what functions/modes are running. The S40 Thermostat seems to be a downgrade since the S30 model provided access to an online portal (which I assume provided more data).
Yes, I recommend this product.
Products that add to the performance of SL22KLV Cold Climate Heat Pump
- * Efficiency claim based on comparison of the combined heating and cooling efficiency within a single product family (HSPF2, EER2, and SEER2 of the SL22KLV) as compared to the HSPF2, EER2, and SEER2 of competitive R-454B and R-32 ducted heat pump as published in AHRI (January 2025). Actual system efficiency may vary based on the system match and other factors; consult AHRI Directory for exact system efficiency. Precision claim based on the average cooling capacity range of the SL22KLV as compared to the average cooling capacity range of the competitive variable capacity compressor units based on published competitive data (January 2025). Cooling capacity ranges calculated across 2, 3, 4 and 5 tonnage at maximum and minimum speed at ARI standard rating conditions: 95°F outdoor and 80°/67° indoor (80°F dry bulb and 67°F wet bulb).
